Admissions
As a
special focus school, da Vinci Arts Middle School accepts
applications from throughout the PPS school district. We seek
to serve a culturally, ethnically and economically diverse
group of arts-focused learners in grades 6, 7 and 8. Our
goal is to create a rich arts-filled learning environment for
students, staff and families. Here's how to join
us!
Application is a three
step process:
1) Students and parents
are required to come to an Information Session at da Vinci.
(See below for dates)
2) Complete
a da Vinci Statement
of Understanding that outlines the unique aspects of our
school and shows that you understand what da Vinci does and
does not offer for students. It also outlines our expectations
for students and families.
3) Fill out a Portland
Public Schools School Choice form.

of the page to get to an interactive pps Choice
form.
The da Vinci Statement of Understanding needs to be turned in at da Vinci, while the School Choice form needs to be turned in at the PPS Enrollment & Transfer Center (501 N Dixon) or it can be completed online. Please note we cannot accept faxed applications.
A lottery is then
drawn from all applicants that have completed this process by
the deadline. The lottery
is used for both admittance and waitlist order. Waitlists are
not held over to the following year. Students not accepted in
the 6th grade need to re-apply the following year if they are
interested in being considered for 7th & 8th grade
openings.
For
the 2010-11 School year we anticipate having
150
openings for 6th graders,
just one for 7th graders and about 5 for 8th
graders

necessary.
They run 60-75 minutes.

DEADLINE FOR FILLING OUT THE SCHOOL CHOICE FORM MARCH 12, 2010. Last Chance Information Session: March 15th 9:30 AM
If you are planning on attending
the March 15th info session,
be sure you have completed your
district choice form by March 12th.
Sorry, but in order to preserve
the classroom environment
da Vinci does not offer student
shadowing opportunities.
